Paschim Dhemaji College was established in the year 1997 at Paschim Dhemaji, near Ghuguha Dole which is a socio-economically and educationally very backward rural area inhabited by predominantly agriculture neighbourhood, peace loving people of different caste and communities among which belonging to ST, SC, OBC & MOBC etc.The College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and Recognised by U.G.C. under 2 (F) & 12 (B). It is Registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 Registration No. RS/DMJ/241/A/06 Dated 11th August, 2005. The area where the college is located is covering 157 villages having more than 90,000 population, but there was no any institution for higher education though every year more than one thousand students passed H.S. Examination from Higher Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges of this area. It is notable that only a few students of them are able to go out for higher studies. Other students have to remain confined to their homes without further studies because of their poor economic conditions of their family due to flood and deplorable road communication caused by horrible flood which has been appearing since 1983 till now in every year. For removing this problem of getting higher education from far distensible colleges, the people of this area established the degree college and the college has been running since then with satisfactory academic achievement. Paschim Dhemaji College has a dedicated team of 38 permanent and contractual well-qualified young, energetic and talented teachers. The college campus is spread over an area of 35 Bighas of land and a play ground having ten Bighas of land which provides ample opportunities for games and sports for the students and more than 25 class rooms, teachers common room, Students’ Union room and the Administrative building. The college has a auditorium which provide ample opportunities for literary and cultural activities. The institution has well-furnished and well-equipped library having plenty of text books, reference book, news paper, journal, magazine, etc. which helps the students to acquire versatile knowledge in every aspects.
